Nintendo of America recently posted on their official Twitter account that they will be hosting a 72 hour contest for the chance to win a Majora’s Mask prize pack including a New 3DS XL and a copy of the game. The contest is open to residents of the U.S. and Canada, and contestants must be older than thirteen years of age.

In order to participate, you must create your own Majora’s Mask-themed mask and upload it to either Twitter or Instagram using the hashtags #NintendoContestEntry and #MyMajorasMask. The contest is a great way for Legend of Zelda fans to show off their artistic prowess and will be judged on four accounts – artistic quality, creativity, overall representation and that it accurately represents Majora’s Mask.

For more specific rules, please click here. The contest officially opens on January 23, 2015 and ends on January 25, 2015. This is an exciting opportunity to get your hands on a New 3DS XL, and the much anticipated Majora’s Mask 3D. Good luck to all who enter!

  • 1. I don’t think it need to be the Majora’s Mask, It says that it needs to be a mask that represents Majora’s Mask 3D, so i think any mask from the game would be okay.
    2. They haven’t specifically said what model of New 3DS XL it will be

    • Michael Bowerman

Thanks for the catches, Ty! Done and done 🙂

    • Hyrule Friars

I was actually under the impression that it didn’t need to be an in game mask

You can only upload to Twitter for entry. Instagram is mentioned one of the ways Nintendo will publicly announce the winners.

“How to Enter: Limit one entry per person. To enter, you must first be logged in as a registered user of Twitter. (If you are not a registered Twitter user, you can register for free at While you are logged in to your Twitter user account, you must do the following:…”

“After verification of the winners, the winners will be publicly announced through Nintendo’s official social media channels (“Social Media”), which may include but is not limited to Instagram at; Facebook at and/or; http://www.facebook/Nintendo3DS; Twitter at @NintendoAmerica.”

So can you use instagram for a submission?

    • No, only twitter. read the comment above yours

  • Linus

These sorts of things makes me unhappy about living in Sweden. :-/

  • Andrew Green

But does this have to be a physical mask? A drawing? 3d artwork?

    • Talmor

The wording of the contest makes me think it has to be a physical mask:

“You may include only Nintendo logos, brand names and products in your photo. Otherwise, do not wear clothing or show products with prominent logos or brand names. There should not be any recognizable third-party products, logos, signs, or brand names visible. Note that you are not required to include any Nintendo products in your photo, and doing so will not improve your chances of winning.”

But I do see some artwork entries as well.

  • Thomas August Campbell

I made a deku mask replica when I was a kid, I wish I’d found it so i could enter xD

So… what ever happened to this contest? Nintendo has been silencio… and any other outlet I can think of for it. Heck, I think all comments from post-contest deadline are gone from everywhere, too. What gives? Who won?

    • We don’t know yet, they haven’t made the announcement. It’ll probably be ON release day if something didn’t go horribly wrong… we all know how Nintendo loves to make us squirm and wait. lol
I can assume the winners were asked not to say they won, so no one posting on twitter knows anything. I bet the winners are just giggling to themselves.
You can still see people posting and complaining about it on Twitter if you ONLY search the #mymajorasmask tag.

ugh, i better pre-order then. That’s stupid to make us wait on the contest to the point we can’t pre-order anymore. This is silly.
