Music Monday: Hanukkah lights

Spin the dreidel and fry up some latkes because Hanukkah starts tomorrow! Hanukkah (or Chanukah) celebrates the victory of light over darkness. According to the ancient story, when the Maccabees reclaimed the Temple in Jerusalem from Antiochus, they found only a one-day supply of oil for the Menorah. Miraculously, the flame kept burning for eight days and eight nights. Today, the Jewish holiday is celebrated by lighting one candle on the Menorah a night for eight nights.

In honor of Hanukkah, I thought it’d be fitting to select Prelude of Light from Ocarina of Time for this week’s Music Monday. I went with a guitar cover performed by Isaac Johnson. The rock sound of the cover gives the song a triumphant feel. Shalom, and happy Hanukkah!
