Director Masahiro Sakurai reveals the main menu screen for Super Smash Bros. 3DS

In his latest “pic of the day” screenshots for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. titles on Miiverse, series director Masahiro Sakurai revealed the main menu screen for the 3DS version.

It appears rather similar to the main menu design of Brawl, with bold, clean, colourful icons representing each option. Sakurai adds in his caption that “The icons are even animated.”

He goes on to explain that this menu is actually more complex than it appears. “We had a hard time making this one because the bottom screen displays pictures matching each mode!” he says. “This was quite a task for the UI (User Interface) designers, but they made it happen. Kudos to them! You can tap the screen to look up additional info like how to play–complete with diagrams.”

Here is the aforementioned bottom screen.
