Hyrule Warriors developer Tecmo Koei has high hopes for the upcoming Zelda spin-off title. In an interview with Nikkei Trendy (with a translation from Nintendo Everything), president Yoichi Erikawa shared the company’s goals for the fiscal year. One of these was to shift one million units of the game worldwide.

“In addition to our Warriors series fan base, Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda is also a very popular series with a large fan base, and I think it will become a great new market. Because of The Legend of Zelda’s legion of fans overseas, we are aiming to sell more than one million copies worldwide.”

Despite the relatively low user base of the Wii U, it doesn’t seem outside the realm of possibility that Hyrule Warriors will meet the million mark. Considering the strength of the Zelda brand name, and the fact that the remake Wind Waker HD sold over a million, it seems like a perfectly reasonable target.

Isn’t the Dynasty Warriors series the “CoD” for Japan? That plus the fact that there are Zelda characters means that this should easily push over 1 million. I’ll be pre-ordering my copy once a final name and more footage is shown.

This. With two large franchises like that in one, there will certainly be some cross-pollination — many fans from both sides of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors will be curious about the game.

Yup, I’ve never played a Dynasty warriors game, but the Zelda fan inside me is telling me to buy this game, but I’m going to wait for reviews and such, and look more into the Dynasty warriors games before I decide if I’m going to buy this game or not.

If it’s anything like the One Piece adaptation of DW then it’s going to be a pretty fun beat’em up. I never played DW before either, but I loved One Piece so of course I wanted to support it. It had a simplistic story, but the fun was just seeing all my fav characters, some whom never interacted in the series suddenly working/fighting with each other which leads to interesting scenarios. One Piece has a lot more characters than Zelda does, so I’m not sure how they will handle it in this particular case when it comes to the characters the player can use.

I’m Definitely Getting it because I’m a Zelda Fan. Dynasty Warrior fans will probably get it too. million seller I’m sure. And it could expose Dynasty Warrior fans to Zelda. That is an a long term benefit. The reverse is also true.
