The Symphony of the Goddesses tour has been very successful, and has brought many wonderful and memorable Zelda tunes to life through a full orchestra. Hit the jump to learn more about this event!
The Symphonic Legends concert is a one-off performance which will be held at London’s Barbican Centre on July 13, 2014 at 7:30pm GMT. Tickets will go on sale starting December 13, 2013, with ticket prices ranging from £30 to £85. The highly prestigious London Symphony Orchestra and London Symphony Chorus will be performing at the event. Nintendo’s official press release goes into detail about the event:
“Featuring music performed courtesy of Nintendo, Symphonic Legends London takes concertgoers on an unforgettable journey through some of The Legend of Zelda’s best-loved themes. With new and revised scores by renowned video game arrangers, Jonne Valtonen and Roger Wanamo, Symphonic Legends London squeezes every last musical drop of action, adventure, romance, heartbreak and heroics from soundtracks to games such as The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The concert also features the world premiere of a brand new Overture of music from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, sending listeners’ imagination soaring to the skies and beyond.
…Symphonic Legends London is being developed by the award winning Merregnon Studios, the world’s leading video game concert production company. With over 10 years of experience in the genre, Merregnon Studios helped debut the first ever orchestral performance of music from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker in Germany in 2003, as well as being the first company ever to work with the prestigious London Symphony Orchestra on a video game concert.”
It’s really wonderful that Nintendo UK is doing something like this. The music of the Zelda series holds a special place in my heart, and I’m sure that the music has had a powerful impact many other people as well. Just being able to hear classic Zelda tunes performed by a full orchestra and choir in a live, concert setting is a testament to not only the relevance of music from the Zelda series, but to the growing relevance of video game music in general.
