Last week at the Nintendo Conference, Satoru Iwata (President at Nintendo) confirmed the existence of the Wii Remote Plus, a Wii Remote with the Wii MotionPlus peripheral built directly in.
Mr. Iwata had this to say:
“For the convenience of the users, Nintendo is developing Wii Remote Plus, which integrates Wii Remote and Wii MotionPlus. We will announce the details of this controller on our web sites and through other media at some later date.”
The device itself looks identical to the original Wii Remotes, not any longer or wider than the original controller.
But will the revamped controller come bundled with the new The Legend of Zelda title?
While we cannot say for certain whether the Wii Remote Plus will come bundled with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, we do know that the upgraded controller will come bundled with an action game which requires the Wii MotionPlus level of preciseness, a game called FlingSmash, priced at $49.99 and set for release on November 7th.
As you can see from the cover art, the Wii Remote Plus is proudly displayed on the cover as the bonus item to be found within.
So while we cannot say for certain that Skyward Sword‘s first release will feature a similar bonus prize, there is precidence. The first release of The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures came bundled with the cable to link the Game Boy Advance to your GameCube; the cable sold separately for $15.95. When it was first released Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles featured the same bonus item. And then we have the above example of at least one Wii game releasing with the Wii Controller Plus bundled. Certainly there will be others.
But what do you think? Do you think we’ll see the Wii Remote Plus bundled with Skyward Sword? And, more importantly, will it be golden and marked with the Triforce symbol?
