Among several new editions of old favorites, Nintendo announced Donkey Kong Country Returns today at their E3 2010 press conference. In this new title by the former Metroid developers at Retro Studios, both Donkey and Diddy Kong adventure together to retrieve Donkey Kong’s stolen stash of bananas.

New to this installment in the series is the ability for two people to play at once- one as Donkey Kong and one as Diddy! This game has the potential to bring a lot of new fans to the franchise, as it’s very friendly to less-experienced players- Diddy Kong can ride on Donkey Kong’s back to let the more experienced player take care of more challenging areas.

In this sidescrolling adventure, players move Donkey Kong by using the control stick on the nunchuck controller and can make Donkey Kong slap the ground by shaking the Wii remote.

Donkey Kong Country Returns will be in stores this holiday season.

I've been wanting a new DKC game since the 3rd one was made, this news is even more epic than the new Zelda Wii(which brought down my hype for it with it's graphical design choice)

And 2 players at once! I grew up on these games, nice to see them coming back
