Unfortunately for me, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is all ready to be released to its adoring American public…

It looks like AoL has finally gone through the ESRB bureaucracy and gotten the rating that it needs before it can it can be distributed on the Wii Virtual Console in America. Like every other Zelda game except Twilight Princess, it has a rating of “E” for Everyone.

Sadly, this means that the game actually *is* coming to US Virtual Consoles… There was one part of my mind that still held out hope that it wouldn’t be coming out here, because AoL is one of the few games that has ever caused me to throw a controller against a wall in frustration.

Of course, the fact that it has a rating doesn’t automatically mean the game will be released next week or even any time in the next month. There’s a queue of more than ten other NES games that were rated earlier and still have to be released for the Virtual Console. However, now that AoL has a rating, there’s nothing to stop Nintendo from moving it to the front of the pack…

Now it’s only a matter of waiting until the game is officially released and I’m not going to be able to come up with an excuse for not beating it.
