10 locations we want to see in future Zelda games
The Legend of Zelda series is known for its rich and varied locations, each offering a unique environment to explore and conquer. Most of these locations we’ve only visited once and haven’t seen again in a new title. Here are ten locations from past Zelda games that fans would love to see revisited or reimagined in future installments.
10. Termina (Majora’s Mask)

Termina is a parallel world to Hyrule, offering a darker and more mysterious setting. Its unique characters, such as the Skull Kid and the Happy Mask Salesman, make it a location ripe for further exploration and storytelling in future Zelda games. It still feels like Termina has many mysteries and untold stories to be discovered, one way or another.
9. Labrynna (Oracle of Ages)

Labrynna is a land with diverse environments, including forests, deserts, and mountains. Its rich history, including the conflict between the Kingdom of Labrynna and the evil sorceress Veran, features a wealth of lore and storytelling potential for future Zelda games set in this region. With only a handful of games taking place outside of Hyrule, like its sister game Oracle of Seasons, we have only scratched the surface of what the world outside of Hyrule may contain.
8. Koholint Island (Link’s Awakening)

Koholint Island is a dreamlike world with a unique charm and atmosphere. Its mysterious nature, including the question of whether it truly exists or is just a dream, could be explored in future games as we uncover more of its secrets and lore. Maybe we can see the Hero of Legend finding Marin, getting an ending similar to the Hero of Time, and discovering the secrets of the Wind Fish, and more in a future title.
7. The Dark World (A Link to the Past)

The Dark World is a twisted mirror of Hyrule, acting as a darker and more challenging counterpart to the main world. Its dual-natured dungeons and unique inhabitants, such as the Dark World’s versions of familiar characters, make it a compelling setting for future Zelda games to revisit or expand upon. The Depths in Tears of the Kingdom is a nice callback to the Dark World, but seeing a modern take on Ganondorf’s corruption to the Sacred Realm could help us understand the lore of the villain and world immensely.
6. The Great Sea (The Wind Waker)

The Great Sea is a vast ocean dotted with islands, with endless possibilities for exploration and adventure. Its expansive nature, coupled with the potential for new islands, civilizations, and threats, makes it a prime candidate for a return in future Zelda games set in this world. Even exploring more locations in the ruins of Hyrule at the bottom of the sea, by diving down in certain places, could add loads of depth (pun intended) to the history of the once great kingdom.
5. Skyloft (Skyward Sword)

Skyloft is a floating island inhabited by the people of Skyloft and serves as the starting point for Link’s adventure in Skyward Sword. Its unique vertical layout, including the Sky Keep dungeon, and its connection to the land below offer opportunities for further exploration and expansion in future Zelda games. We see this in part in Tears of the Kingdom with the Sky Islands, a return to the sky in future titles may not be that far out of reach.
4. Hyrule Castle Town (Various)

Hyrule Castle Town is a bustling hub of activity, being one of the most lively and dynamic settings in the series. With Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, we’ve only seen a skeleton of the once-prosperous town. Its diverse population, including merchants, performers, and residents, as well as its central location within Hyrule, make it a location that could always achieve something new in future Zelda games.
3. The City in the Sky (Twilight Princess)

The City in the Sky is a mysterious floating city high above Hyrule. This unique and fantastical setting is not simply a memorable dungeon, but also an important location in Hyrule’s storied history. Its intricate architecture, including floating platforms and wind-powered mechanisms, as well as its connection to the Oocca race, make it a location ripe for further exploration and discovery in future Zelda games.
2. The Twilight Realm (Twilight Princess)

The Twilight Realm is a dark and foreboding realm that exists parallel to Hyrule. Its twisted landscapes, inhabited by creatures like Shadow Beasts and Twili, as well as its connection to the Triforce and the Dark Interlopers, make it a location with rich lore and storytelling possibilities for future Zelda games. Mechanically similar to the Dark World, entering and leaving the Realm in certain locations, and the hopeful return of a fan-favorite character is more than enough reason to revisit this mysterious realm.
1. The Sacred Realm (Various)

The Sacred Realm is a mystical realm closely tied to the Triforce and the Golden Land. Its status as a realm of pure light or darkness, depending on the balance of the Triforce, as well as its role in the history of Hyrule, makes it a location with deep lore and potential for exploration in future Zelda games. Exploring the Realm can answer so many questions we didn’t know we had regarding the Legend of Zelda.
