Release date for The Legend of Zelda Movie is sooner

“This is Miyamoto.” These words are powerful enough to shake even the sleepiest Nintendo fan awake in an instant. On May 13 this year, Shigeru Miyamoto announced through the Nintendo Today! app and Nintendo company social media channels that The Legend of Zelda Movie is ahead of schedule and is actually getting released sooner.

“This is Miyamoto. I would like to let you know that the worldwide theatrical release date for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda has been moved up to April 30, 2027, from May 7. The team is working hard to deliver the film to everyone as soon as possible. There’s less than a year to go until release, so thank you for waiting.”

For the past few months, excited fans have tried to glean whatever information about the movie they can get their hands on, and we honestly can’t blame them! Nintendo has done an excellent job keeping this movie under wraps. A few vague photos of what seem to be sets, clappers, staff attire with logos, and even dogs that look like Hylian Retrievers are scrounged up and passed around online, but the exact sources of such remain unclear at this time.

What we do know is that movie industry sources confirmed that filming progress is excellent and the filming plans in New Zealand are now finished. With Miyamoto’s statement taken into account, it is possible that the movie production is ahead of schedule. Could there be a Zelda movie trailer in a Direct next month? Who knows, but it’s lovely to think about! We’ll bring you the most accurate information to date about the Zelda movie, so keep an eye out.
