The creators of 2023’s Mika and the Witch’s Mountain — an action-adventure game heavily influenced by The Wind Waker — are now using the Nintendo 64 era of The Legend of Zelda as inspriation for their latest project.
Bel’s Fanfare is a new Kickstarter campaign from Spanish studio Chibig, inspired by Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. According to GamesRadar+, the project was 600% funded in just three days, and has a total of $500,000 pledged at the time of writing (over 10 times its initial goal).
The campaign page states: “Bel draws inspiration from the stylized, low-poly artistry of Majora’s Mask and the dreamlike atmosphere of Spirited Away, both approaches of creating a fantasy world grounded in reality.”
In the game, “aura” is a hostile substance that surfaces from negative emotions, such as anxiety or heartbreak.

“You play as Bel, the new aura cleaner of the once-luxurious vessel The Witch of the Sea,” the page reads.
“Purify the rooms of this cruise ship inhabited by otherworldly beings and find a resolution to their spiritual troubles.”
Bel is equipped with a “Ukobach gong-shield,” which can be used for combat, absorbing aura, fishing, playing music, and more.
The game also promises boss fights, secret rooms to explore, magical beings to interact with, customizable shield skins, and a Retro Mode that replicates the classic Nintendo 64 look.
There are multiple tiers offering various rewards, including a digital artbook, soundtrack, figurines, and more.
You can back the project on the Kickstarter page, which has more in-depth story details, beautiful artwork, and playable music tracks. You can also support the game by wishlisting on Steam.
Bel’s Fanfare has an estimated release window of October 2027, and will launch on Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
