Developer Koei Tecmo recently posted a video featuring gameplay of their upcoming release for the Nintendo Switch 2 titled NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION: Awakening Complete Edition. Much of the video showcases the new Joy-Con controls until about 11 minutes in where you can see a standard USB mouse being used. This is incredibly exciting news for people who either prefer or need to use a mouse instead of the Joy-Con controllers due to their small size or accessibility reasons. It’s currently unknown if every game that utilizes the Joy-Con mouse controls will also support a USB mouse. The new Joy-Cons mark a first for console gaming, pioneering native mouse support at launch.
Nintendo also recently released a video that showed the setup flow and tutorial for the Joy-Con mouse controls. In the video, there’s a cheeky easter egg where you can see that the thumbnail images can actually interact with you and you can use the mouse controls to shoot down the balloons.
It’s exciting to see how mouse controls will be used in new ways for future games. Here’s hoping that we’ll discover more easter eggs as even more videos and pictures of the Nintendo Switch 2 are released to the public.
