Are you ready to make the switch? Or rather, make room for a new console coming to town, the Switch 2. As Nintendo gets ready for its newest exciting launch (which they will have more info in a special Direct presentation on April 2, by the way), the game company announced that it’s time to get ready to say goodbye to some older things, notably Gold Points and Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers.

Starting March 25th 3:30PM AEDT / 5:30PM NZDT, My Nintendo reward members will no longer be able to earn Gold Points , which are part of the My Nintendo consumer reward system. “Gold Points already earned can still be used on Nintendo eShop to receive a discount, even after this end date. We sincerely thank you for using the My Nintendo rewards program and apologise for any inconvenience,” stated Nintendo Australia’s website. It is important to note that pre-orders for games that are placed by March 24th will still be eligible for earning Gold Points regardless of timing for the game’s release. If the preorder is cancelled and replaced after the 24th, however, Gold Points are no longer eligible. As preorders for digital games placed at retail outlets currently receive download codes for Gold Points, the download codes will need to be redeemed by the 24th.
Claimed Gold Points are still active as far as spending them goes and have a one-year lifespan. So once they’re claimed, think twice before you spend them. This is also true for Switch Game Vouchers, which Nintendo stated will not be compatible for purchasing Switch 2 games. It’s not known whether something similar will be in place for the incoming console just yet. But with the exception of earning Gold Points, the My Nintendo Rewards system itself is still very much alive. Keep reaping its benefits now while you can.
