AGDQ speedrunning event raises more than $2.75 million for charity

Despite challenges posed by the ongoing global pandemic, this past week speedrunning marathon Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) pulled in a total of $2,758,847 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation at the virtual event’s close.

Runs included Skyward Sword and Majora’s Mask Any%, A Link to the Past All Dungeons, and a Wand of Gamelon Bonus Game, among a variety of other titles across different genres. Beginning January 3, more than 150 games were featured throughout the marathon’s eight-day run, and 25,670 total donors contributed more than 42,000 total donations. AGDQ is one of two annual events hosted by Games Done Quick (GDQ), with the second taking place in the summer months. GDQ has raised more than $28 million for charity to date, and typically attract more than 2,000 attendees to their in-person events.
