During the June 18 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced A Link to the Past and Four Swords would be ported to their online service. Players with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will have access to the game through the system’s collection of Gameboy Advance games. Four Swords will be playable through online multiplayer. The release was announced alongside Nintendo Switch Online ports of Metroid: Zero Mission, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, and Perfect Dark. All games will be available today.
Originally released for GBA in 2002, Four Swords was the first multiplayer installment in the Zelda series. It follows Link after being split into four copies of himself as he tries to rescue Zelda from Vaati. It was released with a remake of A Link to the Past. The remake has some minor changes from the original 1991 SNES title, including translation updates, quality of life changes, and a bonus dungeon accessible with the completion of Four Swords.
