The bird folk of Dragon Roost Island used to be one of the Zelda Series’ least represented races due to the fact that they only properly appeared in The Wind Waker prior to the release of Breath of the Wild. However, the world of Hyrule in Breath of the Wild saw the inclusion of Rito Village which introduced many new Rito characters to the world of Zelda. The world of the Rito was only expanded after the release of Tears of the Kingdom, now ranging anywhere from Rito musicians to Rito news reporters! Although characters such as Kass and Revali do a great job on their own bringing the Rito to the main story, there happen to be plenty more interesting Rito characters, such as the focus for this article: the bow craftsman Harth.
When Link first meets Harth in Breath of the Wild, he’ll avoid bringing attention to the injury on his wing which has grounded him for the time being. Speaking around the village, you’ll eventually discover that Harth is actually a warrior as well as a craftsman, and injured himself attempting to deal with the issue of Divine Beast Vah Medoh alongside Teba. While he and Teba share the same fighting spirit and love for their Village, Harth is a little more down to earth, recognizing the danger of Vah Medoh whereas Teba seems significantly more eager to dive back into battle. After the battle concludes, Harth will craft Revali’s signature Great Eagle Bow for Link, given the right materials.

Further in the future, Harth makes another appearance in Tears of the Kingdom. This time, he’s keeping watch over the Hebra Trailhead Lodge and updates Link on the status of everyone in Rito Village. He doesn’t participate much in the Rito quest itself, as Tulin takes more of a center stage. After Tulin awakens as the Sage of Wind, Harth will appear at Lookout Landing to help out with Hyrule’s problems as one of the representatives of the Rito tribe.
Though he isnt as notable as the Rito warriors Revali and Teba, Harth makes his mark as one of the stars of Rito Village and their signature bow craftsmen. He’s undeniably part of the backbone of Rito Village, and it was really great to see him return in Tears of the Kingdom as a representative of the Rito tribe. To be completely honest, one of the biggest reasons I wanted to write about Harth was his haircut. Out of all the Rito warriors, he’s definitely got my favorite style.
