Ocarina of Time wins Game Informer’s greatest games of all time poll

For the month of March, Game Informer magazine held its own bracket-style tournament to determine the “greatest video game of all time.” Game Informer assembled the entries using a readers vote they held back in 2018 to determine the top 300 games of all time, as well as input from various online communities, staff input, and game critic scores. Once the brackets were assembled Game Informer held two rounds of voting per week until there was one winner. All in all, there were over 200,000 votes cast with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time winning out over The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in the number two spot.

Ocarina’s victory in the poll of public opinion will be a welcome one as the results of the 2018 Game Informer bracket had Ocarina of Time coming in 3rd, losing out to The Witcher 3 for first place, and the Last of Us coming in second. Regardless of how you feel about Ocarina of Time from a technical game development perspective, at this point it is hard to deny that it has solidified its place in gaming history as one of the most influential and beloved games of all time.
