Nintendo fans have much to look forward to this weekend. A special all-new Legend of Zelda Orchestra Concert will soon be broadcasted online on Nintendo of America’s YouTube Channel on February 9, 2024 at 5AM PT / 8AM ET, followed by a Splatoon 3 Concert broadcasted the same time and place on February 10. Both concerts are pre-recorded and can be enjoyed worldwide from the comfort of listeners’ homes.
The concerts were originally scheduled as part of Nintendo Live 2024 in Tokyo, but the event was wisely cancelled as a safety precaution when persistent threats were targeted against Nintendo staff and attendants of the future family-friendly event. Nintendo also made the decision to postpone the Splatoon Koshien 2023 National Finals for safety reasons.
Fortunately, the cancellations leave behind a silver lining. Access to both concerts would likely have been only available to on-site participants who purchased an exclusive Warp Pipe Pass for the Nintendo Live event. Now that the concerts are being aired publicly on YouTube instead, fans can enjoy listening to these pre-recorded orchestrated performances free of charge. That’s mighty generous of Nintendo!
Many fans fondly remember listening to their favorite game tunes become larger than life in the Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Orchestra tour in 2011. The last time Nintendo had a Legend of Zelda concert was more than five years ago in 2018. Since then, the epic ensemble has not returned — until now. What games will this special Zelda concert entail? It’s likely we’ll get to hear gorgeous renditions of the latest title, Tears of the Kingdom. The game was nominated for Best Score & Music at The Game Awards in 2023. But besides that knowledge as an educated guess, it’s entirely a surprise. Whatever Zelda games the concert will feature, it’s going to be quite the wake-up call for fans in the United States. It will probably be the most epic morning coffee or tea experience you’ll have in your life.
