The COVID-19 pandemic has put a damper on many different events in the past year. Concerts canceled, weddings rescheduled, and vacations ruined. So, if you already had your tickets ready for the February 5 opening of Super Nintendo World, you should probably cancel your flight.

Due to the “emergency declaration” and spike in COVID-19 cases in the Osaka Prefecture, Nintendo announced that they will be pushing back the opening date of the new park, Polygon reports. The emergency declaration is in effect until at least February 7, however that is likely to be extended. A new opening date has not been announced at press time.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating worldwide. According to Nippon.com, Japan’s cases as of January 14 were just topping over 300,000 with 36,434 of those being in the Osaka Prefecture. Japan has been averaging over 6,000 cases per day over the past two weeks.
