Artist Stoic Seraphim’s long-running Zelda fan art series has finally come to an end. The self-imposed challenge was to examine the titanic roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and ask what it would be like if the Fierce Deity Mask from Majora’s Mask was an item in the game, and how that would change every character’s appearance. Over the course of the last year, Stoic Seraphim made progress week-by-week on this suite of themed portraits united in the vivid colour scheme and sharp intricacies of one of the Zelda series’ most extreme and iconic character designs.
When we last took a look at this series of works, the roster was still incomplete, but Stoic Seraphim has finally grouped every fighter together, leaving Young Link for the grand finale, as is appropriate. Now “everyone is fierce!” as the artist exclaimed in their post marking the project’s conclusion. The image of the entire roster standing together with their bright turquoise viridian garments and distinct white eyes is a sight to behold, and the level of fine detail for each fighter is incredible.
Stoic Seraphim stated that they’re not done with the Fierce Deity theme; they’re extending the fan art series to allow for any requested character to receive a power-up, including their first new entry beyond the Smash Ultimate series, Hatsune Miku.
