Nintendo Store New York, GameStop to host midnight release celebrations of Tears of the Kingdom

The Nintendo Store and GameStop locations in New York City aren’t holding back with their immense lineup of Tears of the Kingdom merchandise by any means.

On May 5, the Nintendo Store’s Twitter page announced plans for a special launch event starting May 12 at the stroke of midnight following the Nintendo Treehouse Live event on Thursday the night before. Tons of Tears of the Kingdom merchandise will be available in the Store, including themed t-shirts, journals, mugs, the Tears Nintendo Switch OLED model, the Switch Case, the Pro Controller, and of course the game itself. A limited supply of the prized Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition will also be available for pickup first come first serve.

There are a few rules, however, to follow for customers coming into the Nintendo NYC Store to participate in the festivities that day. Guests can only enter with a Warp Pipe Pass if they have made a reservation on the store’s website ahead of time with a MyNintendo Account. The reservation process is relatively simple on their experience.nintendo.com website. Due to its popularity the site crashed on May 5 shortly after reservations were announced, but Nintendo Store’s IT team quickly repaired it to full working capacity.

The reservation page crashed due to sheer popularity, but the Nintendo Store promptly repaired it.

The current time clots were already booked at the time of this writing, but it’s worth keeping an eye on the site as new time slots may become available. Once reservations are made, it is wise for guests to be mindful not to arrive more than one hour early in line at the store. It is also important to be timely, as guests may lose their reservation spot if they arrive more than five minutes late. After all, Zelda fans know not to be rude to the shopkeepers.

Can’t make it to the Nintendo Store NYC? Don’t worry, all of the Tears of the Kingdom merchandise will become available for sale online starting May 11. If you live in NYC or plan to go there, be sure to check out the GameStop store location as well because it too plans to pull a similar move with their own midnight launch event in New York City. The video game retailer was fortunate enough to house the now-famous Link statue inside the store. GameStop showcased a video of the statue with an impressive display of inventory and fun Zelda-themed drip throughout the NYC store that fans can gawk at with glee now through May 14.
