Nintendo confirms it will not attend E3 2023

Is that E3 or a Pikmin? It’s hard to tell, as Nintendo has now officially confirmed they will not be attending E3 in any capacity this year, making it one of the smallest E3’s in a long time.

Last month, IGN reported that Nintendo, alongside Microsoft and Sony, would not be attending E3. At the time, only Xbox made a public comment about the matter, but now Nintendo has chimed in to give their reason for not attending the event as well.

According to CNET, a spokesman for Nintendo stated, “We approach our involvement in any event on a case-by-case basis and are always considering various ways to engage with our fans. Since this year’s E3 show didn’t fit into our plans, we have made the decision to not participate. However, we have been and continue to be a strong supporter of the ESA and E3.”

Nintendo has yet to announce any plans for the summer, but it was recently confirmed they would be attending PAX East, which runs from March 23 to 26. Zelda Universe is attending PAX East as well.

E3 2023 is looking to be a much smaller event than in years past, and Nintendo officially not showing up further confirms as much.
