Calling all artists, writers, and creatives alike!
In addition to our annual Linktober contest, this year the Zelda Universe DeviantArt group is hosting a new contest for creatives of all kinds!
Our staff on the columns team have picked three words. Your job is to create a Zelda-themed piece of any media you’d like, be it artwork, writing, video, music, or anything else that YOU make yourself that falls into the category of one of these three prompts (listed below in the article). By taking part, you will not only be in with a chance to be featured in a special column this month on Zelda Universe, but you might win some cool gear as well!
With each submission to our DeviantArt gallery created for this challenge, you will be eligible to win one in one of many categories, including our grand prize for “best in show”! Each category winner will be featured in a special Yuga’s Art Gallery column and receive a small prize package (to be determined), and our grand prize winner will be sent a Legend of Zelda Game and Watch set in addition!
You can submit as many entries as you’d like, but you can only win one category, so choose wisely! However, don’t let that stop you from submitting as much artwork to our DeviantArt gallery as you’d like. Even if it doesn’t show up in this particular article, when you submit to the Deviantart group we know that you want your artwork to be shared, and it could always end up in a future column!
The three words chosen are “Royalty”, “Sages”, and “Music”.
The categories that you can win in are:
- Best in Show
- Best Entry for “Royalty”
- Best Entry for “Sages”
- Best Entry for “Music”
- Best Artwork (Drawing)
- Most Unique/Original Piece
- Best Written Piece (if applicable)
- Best Beginner Artist
- Judges Choices (We currently have 7 judges)
NOTE: These categories may be subject to change. For any written works, please do not exceed 5000 words. For music and video, please do not exceed three minutes. Any child entrants must have a parent/guardian submit for them. Any entries that do not follow these or the group’s general guidelines will not be eligible for submission.
When submitting to the DeviantArt gallery, please make sure to submit to the correct folder according to which word they correspond. There will be one folder per word prompt properly titled. If for some reason the media you are trying to submit will not upload to Deviantart, you can direct message Admin Ariaera on Deviantart or send an email to stephanie@zeldauniverse.net!
Judging will happen in the final week of August and announced on September 1st!
