Is this Skyward Sword HD soundtrack CD box set beautiful? Yes. Is it gorgeous? For sure. Is it splendid and vivid and pretty? Yeah, and I can keep going. I bet you could, too. And if you happen to live in Japan, you can purchase it for your listening pleasure on November 23.

It’s yours for 5,500 yen (around $50/£37) and you can preorder today. Alternatively, you can nab the soundtrack’s fancy Limited Edition set, which includes a nifty little music box that’ll play “Ballad of the Goddess” for you, rain or shine.

But the five-disc CD set’s got a whopping 187 tracks to its name no matter which version you select. Think about it. 187 tracks of Legend of Zelda aural goodness. Is that not spectacular? I struggle to think of a single thing about this announcement that’s anything less than perfect.

Oh, right. Except for the fact that this is only available in Japan. And I do not live in Japan. And neither do most of our site’s reader base, I’d be willing to bet.

There is a glimmer of hope: It’s called Play-Asia. The site’s been helping international fans of Japanese physical media for very nearly two decades and counting, and their kind courtesies continue with the Skyward Sword HD soundtrack box set. Both the regular and Limited Edition versions can be preordered there with an estimated shipping date of November 28.

As is the case with most of the Zelda franchise, Skyward Sword’s OST is well and truly sublime. Having this exceptional set handy will be reason enough to compel me to play music from an actual CD for the first time in ages. Please enjoy this video of the “Ballad of the Goddess” music box with me as we take a trip down (up?) Skyloft lane.

I write stuff for a living. In my spare time, I continue writing. I subsist on coffee and curry. My cat is my Queen, but Zelda's our Princess. I play with swords IRL, so if I ever stop writing you can probably guess what happened to me.
