Tingle’s Maps: Minish Homes

The homes of the Picori, or Minish in The Minish Cap, are so adorable that they warranted an entire article about them. The Minish are extremely tiny creatures who reside all over the Kingdom of Hyrule. The game’s main villain, Vaati, was once a Minish, and Link, our hero, transforms himself to their level thanks to Ezlo. In the game, the humans refer to the Minish as “Minish,” but the Minish refer to themselves as “Picori.” I’ll be using both names interchangeably. This article will focus on the homes on the Minish, so let’s jump right into it!

The Minish live in many locations throughout the game. There are some who live in adorable mushrooms in empty areas, some live in cities in the ceiling of human homes, some live in little villages, and some live in cracks in the ground. Some homes offer a treasure chest for Link! Many of the mushroom Picori homes include a cute bed, a rug, a four-leaf clover plant, a table, chairs, and three windows (with one having curtains). The colors of the rugs and bedsheets vary, with some being orange or yellow or green or purple. Since mushrooms are round, these homes are round as well. They are small houses that only account for one Minish living there at a time, and I wonder if they ever get lonely. These mushroom homes are extremely cozy and perfect for a calm, nature-loving individual.

The city Minish live in the homes of humans in ceiling spaces. These homes are square, like the human houses. The city Minish look different from the forest Minish, and I’m honestly not sure if it’s because they’re a different species or if the city dwellers just have more spunk to them. The home below is an unused Picori home, and I think it’s adorable. The bed is cute, the rugs remind me of citrus, the yellow flower must make the place smell wonderful, and my favorite part is, of course, the card table that should be a real thing. The tables in the mushroom houses appear to be made of wood and are much smaller than the card table in the city house, yet both have cups/teapots on them. The city Minish must collect human items to make fun furniture, but the teapots and cups must be sculpted with clay by their tiny hands. If I were a Minish, I would probably live in a city home.

The Picori who live in crevices in the ground have a decent-sized space. These homes are oval-shaped and include a ladder to get up and down, a cute bed, a table and chair, a cylinder shelf, a device that looks like it is used to prepare food, a plant, and of course, a treasure chest. There are also rugs. If I was a Picori and I had to choose a place to live, I definitely wouldn’t choose a hole in the ground because I’d imagine that it gets very cold and probably floods. A city room would be perfect.

There are some other neat Minish homes that are worth mentioning. Librari, the Picori who lives in the Hyrule Library, has his home inside a book. Librari’s home is long and looks exactly like a private study room you would find in a university library. His bed has an extremely adorable setup that I just love (it’s the little things in life that make me happy!). Librari’s bed is in a nook within the wall of pages (similar to the book nook trend that floods Pinterest). He has a green four-leaf clover floor, a glowing plant that probably acts as a lamp, and a couple of tables made of paper.

Minish Village has a barrel that acts as a plant nursery that always intrigued me. The barrel is two stories that connect via a ladder and is the home of the elusive Jabber Nut. At first, the plants in the nursery have yet to bloom, but certain sidequests enable them to flourish. The bloomed flowers don’t add anything important to the game, but it makes the flower-tending Minish happy so it’s worth it. The elders of Minish Village also hang out in fancy places. Festari lives in a dog-bone-shaped abbey that seems to be covered in either ice or crystals. The elder’s house is oval-shaped, has two rooms, and includes many of the typical Picori necessities. The Elder’s home also includes a mural of the four elements which is a fun little touch.

Overall, the Minish reside in adorable little homes that are both cozy and minimalistic. I find the city homes to be the best but I wouldn’t mind a mushroom home! The Minish Cap is one of my favorite Zelda games, and I think it would be really neat if the Breath of the Wild sequel brought back the Picori and their cute houses (considering how a similar idea was scrapped for its predecessor). We can only wait and see.
