In the world of The Minish Cap, there are three Minish Elders, one for each type of Minish found in Hyrule. The Mountain Minish are led by Melari the Blacksmith, while the Forest Minish are led by Gentari, the Minish Elder who informs Link of the locations of the Elements he must collect to restore the Picori Blade. The Town Minish are led by Gentari’s twin brother, Librari, a sly old fellow who lives in the Royal Hyrule Library of Hyrule Town.
While most will remember Librari for his role in helping Link reach the Temple of Droplets, he has a surprising number of secrets hidden behind that comically large feather.
Link originally seeks out Elder Librari after hearing rumors that the old Minish entered the Temple of Droplets himself in the past. Eventually, it’s revealed that Libari used the Flippers to enter the Temple, allowing him to traverse Lake Hylia without drowning. Although Librari puts Link through a trial before relinquishing his secrets, he seems happy to have another adventurer succeed him. Librari’s story doesn’t end there, though. As it turns out, the Elder was not just a bold adventurer who explored the treacherous Temple of Droplets, but also a proud warrior who challenged great beasts!

In contrast to the needle of Gentari or the hammer of Melari, Librari wields a massive, resplendent feather. While it certainly makes him stand out, this feather is also a personal item of importance to the Elder. As revealed in his Figurine description, Elder Librari dueled a Cucco as a young Minish and the feather he wields is a trophy from this battle. Considering the Cucco are a powerful force that even Link struggles against occasionally, Librari must’ve been an incredible Minish warrior, fighting what would’ve been a massive creature all on his own. On top of his history with the Temple of Droplets, Librari might have been considered a Minish hero in his prime.

Of course, time marches onward, and no one can stay young forever. Librari, in present day, is but a simple old Minish who spends his days in the Library. Once Vaati has turned Hyrule Castle into Dark Hyrule Castle, Librari permanently moves to his Lake Hylia residence and rewards you with an entire Heart Container the first time you visit him. He’ll even reveal the locations of the Great Fairies, should you have missed any. Even when he’s got nothing left to give, he’ll still greet you warmly, so make sure you give old man Librari a visit next time you pick up The Minish Cap.
