Have you ever spent hours poring over Google Maps Street View out of curiosity? Maybe you were exploring the neighborhood you used to grow up in, or you got lost exploring the landscape of a foreign country. Well, now you can do the same thing in Hyrule and get lost in Breath of the Wild’s amazing landscape all over again.
Thanks to the hard work of YouTube user Nassim’s Software, we now have a Breath of the Wild-inspired version of Google Maps Street View up and running online. You can revisit pinned locations in several areas with panoramic views, some of which you can even “walk” through a bit like the original Street View.
In order to create the 360-degree first-person perspectives, Nassim’s Software stitched together screenshots from the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild with photographic technology. Participants can submit their own locations to add to the free online map. The exceptional craftsmanship of this Google Maps lookalike deserves praise, and the collaborative potential of this project may become a great asset to the speedrunning and glitch-hunting community. It’s no doubt worthwhile to keep an eye on as the map develops, and Nassim’s Software plans to create other similar projects in the future.
