One of the great things about the Nintendo fanbase is the diversity, including a diverse age range. This past week Nintendo noted they hope to keep finding ways to cater to all generations of fans, including the parent generation when asked about their line of classic mini Consoles.
A shareholder at Nintendo’s annual shareholder meeting asked Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa if there were any plans to continue the successful line of mini consoles or expand the online library. This question has been on the minds of fans for months, hoping to revisit classic Game Boy Advance or Nintendo 64 titles on a modern platform. In response to the question, Furukawa stated that Nintendo always imagines a large range of generations when designing their products, and that they want to continue to find ways to approach the parent generation through products like the NES and SNES Classics as well as the online services. Furukawa’s statement unfortunately confirms nothing about bringing more classic games to fans, but it is nice to know that Nintendo is still taking all generations of their fans into consideration when designing products such as the NES Classic.
Nintendo has a very diverse fan base and following, and that includes the wide age range of its players as well, and based upon this statement Nintendo seems aware of that very fact. It will be exciting when we get new ways to play other classic Nintendo games, but for now, we can at least settle with playing the first three Zelda games with Nintendo Switch Online.
