Have you ever wanted to play Zelda while playing Zelda? Waikuteru, Breath of the Wild modder extraordinaire, has created a new mod that allows for overworld modification, which of course opens up a whole world of possibilities including recreating your favorite Zelda games. Waikuteru built the entire town of Skyloft and takes you on a tour in this video.
Not only does Waikuteru give you a tour, but they also break down how this was possible. Within Breath of the Wild, there are four worlds that are used in the game’s code. These are for shrines, the main overworld, Divine Beast fights, and a DLC area. The main overworld is giant and divided into 80 squares. The DLC area is an exact replica of the overworld, but only uses five of those 80 squares. This leaves 75 squares for modders to use.
The above information is just the tip of the iceberg. Check out the video for a more detailed explanation.
