Medli’s Melodies: An Upbeat dj-Jo Outset Island Remix

To be honest, I never realized the “Outset Island Theme” could become more upbeat than it already is. But veteran remixer dj-Jo recognizes that within every catchy song is the potential for some emphatic synth sounds and bigger beats. They’re to classic tracks what chocolate drizzle is to a dessert you would starve yourself all day for.

dj-Jo has done a myriad of Zelda remixes, but this is the one I always come back to. It’s just got such good vibes. And it’s the right amount of additional sounds, which don’t overpower the track but rather elevate it — and your mood.

Seriously, try listening to this when you feel a bit rubbish. It’ll instantly make you feel better with its uplifting energy. It’ll send you back to the days when Link was running across the Outset Island beach, talking to townsfolk, carrying around cute pigs, and running away from snot-nosed kids.

Plus, dj-Jo incorporates a nostalgic tune into the track, bringing in “Zelda’s Lullaby” around the two-minute mark. Though I don’t think the inclusion has a deliberate meaning, I like to think of it as a little reminder of what Link’s life is about to become. You can chill on the beach and be an island kid all you like, but soon the sound of responsibility is going to be unmistakable.

For now though, I’m just a carefree Link enjoying the Outset vibes.
