Age of Calamity ships more than 3 million copies — is already the best selling Musou game to date

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is off to a historic start.

According to Famitsu.com, the game has already shipped more than three million copies worldwide. This makes it the best selling Musou title ever released, surpassing all Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors games, along with all other Musou games based on popular franchises, including One Piece: Pirate Warriors, Fire Emblem Warriors, Dragon Quest Heroes, and of course the original Hyrule Warriors.

Given the game’s ties to a Zelda entry as groundbreaking as Breath of the Wild, it’s not all too surprising that Age of Calamity has managed to do what no other Musou title has done before. With Holiday shopping just getting underway, it’s likely poised to shatter plenty more sales milestones in the coming weeks.

Age of Calamity is a terrific take on the Dynasty Warriors formula that enhances the hack and slash action, all while giving us a deeper look at the era of Hyrule set 100 years before Breath of the Wild.
