In a complete stroke of surprise, Nintendo announced today that a very special Hyrule Warriors game titled Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will be released this fall on November 20. The unique addition to the hit hack-and-slash crossover series focuses on the dramatic events that take place 100 years before Breath of the Wild. It appears that several Zelda characters will be playable and will feature their own unique abilities as they attempt to defend Hyrule from Calamity Ganon’s overwhelming forces.
What’s more, the game features amiibo compatibility. with official Breath of the Wild amiibo figures like Revali, Urbosa, Daruk, and Mipha expected to be compatible with the new title. Those four characters will see their amiibo relaunched alongside Age of Calamity on November 20.
Like the other Hyrule Warriors games, Age of Calamity is currently being co-developed by Koei Tecmo and Nintendo. It’s important to note that this is likely the first crossover title to be included in the Zelda series story canon. Further information on the game will be coming from Nintendo on September 26.
