Excuuuse me, Zelda Universe readers!
Next week will mark the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda TV series, with the first-ever episode airing in the United States on September 8, 1989. Episodes were broadcast once a week, featuring on the Friday episode of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! in place of the usual Super Mario cartoons.
In more recent years, the show has been popularized across the internet through memes, with a particular focus on Link’s infamous catchphrase. If you give the series a shot, however, it surprisingly has much more to offer if you’re a fan of the first two NES Zelda games, and we’ve been enjoying looking back on a truly unique era of The Legend of Zelda.
Throughout the month of September, we will be publishing a ton of articles related to the cartoon, with our extensive retrospective series launching tomorrow and reviewing each episode individually. We will also be sharing lots of trivia, highlights, character profiles, and much more! Keep an eye on our Features page for our reviews, and check out the TV Series September 2019 tag to catch all of our columns in one place.
Whether you watched the show back in the day, or if you’ll be watching it for the first time to celebrate this huge milestone, please also share your thoughts and memories with us!
