Zelda’s Study: Breath of the Wild’s Akkala region looks like a hiding Lizalfos

The community has found all manner of amazing discoveries in Breath of the Wild since its 2017 release, and to this day we’re still seeing new combat techniques, tricks, and glitches pop up across the internet.

I would have said that this game can no longer surprise me anymore, but Breath of the Wild’s map screen was the last place I expected anyone to make another discovery.

Last year, Reddit user Mydden shared the revelation that Breath of the Wild’s Akkala region looks just like a Lizalfos in its hiding state.

The likeness is uncanny, with the darker area of the map outlining the shape of the creature, the positioning of Skull Lake becoming the Lizalfos’s eye, and the spiraling sandbar of Rist Peninsular resembling the coiled tail. Just like a real Lizalfos, it’s hiding in plain sight and blending into the terrain.

In the image below, Mydden has provided a red outline on the left, with the untouched map on the right.

It’s very possible that this is a simple coincidence rather than an intentional design choice, but either way, it’s an excellent find!
