As anyone who has played Breath of the Wild can attest to, the game’s mechanics offer what can seem like an endless amount of variety of interactions and activities. One action will lead into a series of events, whether the player intended for them to happen or not. This has led to players discovering many unique and elaborate gameplay options, such as techniques created for use in speed runs and challenges, but there’s also merit to be found in the simpler and surprising feats, such as a stylish wrangling of a Mountain Buck.
The video, titled “This was totally intentional” and uploaded to the Breath of the Wild subreddit by Redditor bennyfastfeet, begins with the player using their shield to slide down a hill east of the Tabantha Frontier. The player performs a jump after making it partway down the hill and then spots a buck that is running in the same direction that they are landing. Whether a fluke or precise reflexes, the player dismounts from their shield and then mounts the buck in an almost seamless effort before wrangling it and continuing their journey on the animal instead of the shield.
The video is brief, but it is a fun example of how much gameplay variety exists in Breath of the Wild and how players can, whether planned out or done in the moment, constantly challenge themselves to try new things.
