As a Zelda fan in the UK, it’s been a real struggle trying to get hold of the recently announced limited edition of the Link’s Awakening remake. After setting up email and phone alerts, contacting retailers, and constantly refreshing product pages all week, I was fortunate enough to claim my preorder today — and even then, the window of availability was so brief that the item disappeared again instantly.
It’s not too surprising, then, that the Spanish branch of retailer GAME sold out of stock for the item instantly. The company apologized to customers and assured them that they were doing their best to acquire more units.
This follows news of French retailers being restricted to just 10,000 units of the limited edition.
On one hand, it’s great to see such a huge demand for the game, but of course, it’s very unfortunate that thousands of Zelda fans are being left disappointed.
This edition is not to be confused with the Dreamer Edition, which is releasing in North America and Japan. This version also includes an art book, but not the Game Boy steelbook.
To my fellow hunters: Best of luck, and don’t lose hope!
