The Great Fairies of Zelda have always captivated me. They are beautiful beings with mystical powers that one could only dream of; what’s not to love about them? My favorite of the variations would most certainly have to be from The Wind Waker (though the one from Twilight Princess makes for a very close second). With their abstract figures and grandiose displays of color, these fairies make for some particularly beautiful artwork, including that of hadece titled “The Iridescent”

Yuga’s Art Gallery is a series in which we highlight our favorite artwork from The Legend of Zelda community, as well as some official artwork from the franchise from time to time. Zelda is a series that is constantly changing its style, and after over 30 years of evolving and shifting its visuals, it continues to inspire endless ways for artists to interpret their favorite characters and moments.

The piece depicts the Great Fairy bestowing her blessing upon Link in a mesmerizing way. The surrealism of this piece is very strong, as Link seemingly becomes one with the Great Fairy as she graces him with a magical gift. I love how the artist actually integrated the two figures together. It’s both haunting and beautiful at the same time.

The scene itself is so tranquil, it is impossible to not find yourself entranced by the mixture of a magical theme and beautiful craftsmanship. Believe it or not, this piece is not a digital product, but created with acrylics on paper! While digital art is most impressive and equally has its challenges to perfecting them, it’s very nice to see a traditional work of a gaming masterpiece. Thank you hadece for providing just that!
