I’ve found myself both amazed and frustrated by the piece of music I’m discussing this week because I wish the buskers in Britain were as cool as these two guys (from their group named Malcura) performing an incredible cover of “Gerudo Valley” from Ocarina of Time on the streets of Melbourne. Perhaps it’s for the best, as I’d likely throw endless amounts of money at them to keep playing.

Medli’s Melodies is a series in which we choose our favourite songs from The Legend of Zelda franchise, or highlight a special piece of music from the perpetually creative fan community. Music has always such been such an integral component of Zelda games, and we’re here to celebrate that every week!

The two are such talented performers. They play their acoustic guitars with so much enthusiasm and energy, and their hands move faster than I can even comprehend — it’s enthralling. The way they strum the strings and beat the guitars is amazing. They create such raw, crisp sounds to bring the Gerudo Valley track to life, while also giving it their own unique flair. They perfectly capture the rhythm of this classic track. Most importantly, you can tell they’re absolutely loving it, which totally seeps into the energy of the music.

They also covered this track together with the other member of their group, which you can find here.

I love this cover so much. I could seriously replay it endlessly. If I were a passerby on that street, I think I’d have stopped to listen for hours (if they performed that long) and would’ve been buzzing with excitement for the rest of the day.
