Something I genuinely enjoy about The Legend of Zelda TV series is its music. Shuki Levy, who composed many major children’s cartoons in the 1980s, took the 8-bit music of the original NES Zelda games and orchestrated them into full symphonies. It’s such an incredible shame that the soundtrack has never been released, and to this day, can not be found anywhere online.
It seems YouTube user Martin Anderson shares my sentiment, and fortunately, he is talented enough to actually do something about it and deliver the next best thing with his cover.
There is one track in the series that serves as Princess Zelda’s theme and often plays while panning over the kingdom of Hyrule. It’s a very calming melody with a graceful combination of a harp and a pan flute, and Anderson’s cover is just as wonderful.
“It has always irked me that no-one has recreated or remixed some of the music used in the Zelda cartoons,” Anderson says. It’s astonishing how accurate this cover is to the original track, considering it was played by ear!
