Medli’s Melodies: A jazzy ‘Zelda’s Lullaby’ cover

Ocarina of Time is, hands down, one of my favorite games of all time. I remember the thrill of playing it for the first time and being absorbed in the unique environments and fantastic gameplay. “Zelda’s Lullaby” is a song I particularly cherish; I even have my own ocarina to play the tune with. For this week, I found a very special version of “Zelda’s Lullaby” to share.

Youtube channel insaneintherainmusic consistently produces original content and quirky musical covers that center on video game music. He started his channel in 2013 and has reached over 200,000 subscribers. He also frequently collaborates with other YouTube channels such as adrisaurus and FamilyJules. His creativity shows in each musical number he turns into a jazzy piece.

“Zelda’s Lullaby” is one of the most iconic songs featured in Ocarina of Time, and insaneintherainmusic takes a brand-new spin on it. The cover begins with just a keyboard introduction, but it slowly expands by adding drums and then a saxophone. There are several parts where he even adds in new chords and rhythms, adding a whole new theme to this song.

My favorite part of this cover is how the musician takes such a slow, soft song and turns it into an upbeat jazz tune. During the middle of the cover, the musician uses multiple saxophones to create a harmony that leaves the listener wanting more. This cover is incredible and unique, and it definitely made me fall in love with “Zelda’s Lullaby” even more.
