Nintendo only recently announced a new Super Smash Bros. for the Switch with a huge teaser thrown into the end of their most recent Direct, and now we’re getting a tournament at E3!
Nintendo is kicking off this year’s E3 on June 11, and it’s looking to be an entertaining one if nothing else. Not only is there the Smash Bros. 2018 Invitational, there will also be a World Championship tournament for Splatoon 2.
Similar to the tournament for Smash Bros. for Wii U, players from around the world will be specifically handpicked by Nintendo to compete for glory. Expect a celebrity guest of some sort to be mixed in with a number of well-known competitors in the Smash community.
As for Splatoon 2, you can sign up with your teams starting now! Open qualifiers for various age brackets will begin on April 21. More details on the Splatoon registration can be found on Nintendo’s E3 site.
