It seems the Nintendo Switch is taking over the world one console at a time. Whether smashing North American sales records, clearing 4 million units sold, or overtaking the top spot for US console sales in January, the Switch has become an unavoidable success in the wake of one of Nintendo’s greatest financial disappointments, the Wii U.

As if that weren’t enough, the Switch has now officially become the fastest-selling console in France, moving over one million units in under a year at market. Nintendo of France General Manager Philippe Lavoué predicted last month that the Nintendo Switch would surpass one million units by the end of February. He has now predicted that the system will reach two million units in the country by the end of the 2018 calendar year.

Previously, the record for the fastest-selling console in France was held by the PlayStation 4 after it usurped the title from the Nintendo Wii. Nintendo Switch is also outpacing 3DS sales for France, moving 995,000 units in its first year against the respectable 775,000 3DS units sold over the same first-year period. Let’s hope these numbers are a good sign Monsieur Lavoué’s predictions will hold true!
