PAX Australia was held over the past weekend, and for the second year in a row we ran a panel dedicated to Zelda. After discussing the 30-year history of the franchise last year, this year we were all about Breath of the Wild and where we think the Zelda series will go after it. For those who weren’t able to attend the panel, or want to experience all the fun again, you can now watch it on our YouTube and Twitch channels.

The panel discusses just how divergent the game is from more recent Zelda titles, and what makes Breath of the Wild surpass Ocarina of Time in so many fans’ minds, something previous Zelda games have failed to do. We cover everything from exploration to the shrines, from the beginning to the ending, and of course the controversial weapon breaking and voice acting. We dissect it all — or at least as much as we were able to in an hour! As you might expect, there are a few spoilers about the ending, but we do reign them in a little bit in case you haven’t finished the game quite yet.

Thanks to Nintendo Australia, we were able to debut a special video during the panel from Eiji Aonuma with a message to Legend of Zelda fans around the world, which was a surprise for the fans in attendance and a really special moment. Watching Aonuma say “G’day” is priceless. Furthermore, we ran some trivia during the panel and gave away some fantastic prizes including a Master Sword figurine, a set of the four Champion amiibo, and a signed copy of Breath of the Wild — the last two also courtesy of Nintendo Australia.

If you’re feeling slightly jealous that you couldn’t be there to win some of the prizes, we’ve got a special surprise for you. We may have given one copy of Breath of the Wild signed by Eiji Aonuma away at PAX, but we have three more to give away between now and the end of the year. If you want a chance to win, stay tuned! But for now, watch our hour-long panel and let us know if you agree or disagree with the discussion and points made.
