Nintendo will be attending Games Expo Ireland (GXI) at the Royal Dublin Society in Dublin, Ireland on November 25 and 26 2017. This marks the first time that Nintendo will be involved in a gaming event officially on the Emerald Isle.

Dublin Comic Con (Comic Con Ireland) and AsOne Productions (Celtic Throwdown) have partnered up to create GXI, becoming Ireland’s premier large-scale gaming event covering a range of areas including casual play, tournaments, and life-size interactive game sets.

Tournaments include Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Splatoon 2, ARMS, and Rocket League amongst others, so it’s worth checking the website if you are interested. Interestingly, there will be retro gaming competitions with Street Fighter II Turbo (SNES), Super Mario Kart (SNES), Mario Kart 64 (N64), and Super Smash Bros. Melee (GameCube) all making an appearance.

At the Nintendo Zone, the Switch will be very much centre stage to showcase the latest Nintendo titles which include:

  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • ARMS
  • Pokkén Tournament DX
  • Splatoon 2

These games will be available to play and compete against your friends at the event.

While there is no mention of a new Zelda (neither did we expect it), the event lands at a time around the recent announced release of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp for iOS and Android at the end of November.

GXI promises to be a memorable debut for Nintendo in Ireland, and more information is available at the GXI website. With The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses planned for 11 December at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin, it’s beginning to feel very Nintendo-y in Ireland this year.

Fáilte is the Irish word for welcome!
