A big question Zelda fans are asking is about everyone’s favorite bad guy of the series, Ganondorf.

With the release of Breath of the Wild, we’re introduced to the Calamity Ganon as the main threat that Link must face to save the land of Hyrule. But what about his original form we knew from previous games? What about the Gerudo man we know as Ganondorf from games like Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess? Will we ever get to see Ganondorf return as the main antagonist in a future Zelda game?

A new video released by Zelda enthusiast and YouTuber HMK attempts to answer that question. As HMK points out, we haven’t seen Ganondorf make a full appearance in a new Zelda game since 2006. That’s over 10 years. Check out HMK’s video down below.

Please note: The following video contains profanity, and spoilers for Breath of the Wild.

An interesting point brought up is Ganondorf’s iconic look and his possession of the Triforce of Power, an important characteristic rooted into the entire series. But HMK also raises a solid question that fans of the series should ask: Do we even need to have Ganondorf in the games anymore? This is something definitely worth exploring further.

Does it matter? Ganondorf is just an incarnation of Ganon, the pig was there before the man

That may be true, but a man is a much more interesting antagonist than a mindless pig monster. I was really disappointed he didn’t make an appearance in Breath of the Wild.

I think we’ll see him again if there’s ever another game in the child or adult era
