Recently, pre-orders for the SNES Classic Edition opened up on Walmart’s website, but were subsequently taken down. Since then, there had been no word officially from Nintendo or retailers as to when pre-orders would legitimately begin for the United States. However, Nintendo has shed some light recently on Facebook regarding when pre-orders will become available for the retro console.

Their full statement can be read below.

Although we aren’t given an actual date, we now know that pre-orders will open up in late August. With games like A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, and the unreleased Star Fox 2, it’s easy to see why people are so excited to get their hands on the SNES Classic Edition.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on its status, so keep your eyes open in late August!
