Recently, Nintendo announced their newest handheld console in the long-running DS line: the New Nintendo 2DS XL.
As the above video shows, the new system will offer the same options as the 3DS XL without the 3D option. The new 2DS model now sports a clamshell design, and is lighter than its 3DS counterpart. This console will also be released on the same day as two new 3DS games — Hey! Pikmin and Miitopia — on July 28, 2017, at a suggested retail of $149.99.
The console will be available in a black/turquoise or orange/white cover. However, it seems that the orange/white version will only be available in Asia and Europe as it is only shown in the respective Amazon searches.
If you were never a fan of 3D, but didn’t like the open-faced design of the 2DS, this may be the perfect solution for you. With the massive 3DS library behind it — nearly all of which can be played in 2D — this is the best time to hop on the DS wagon, especially if finding or affording a Switch isn’t in the cards for you. Let us know if you’ll be picking up one of these for yourself or someone else!
