Perhaps inspired by my wanderings in Breath of the Wild, I searched high and low for a hidden prize and, lo and behold, I found a Korok! Swedish artist, LittleWikis, has recreated the Sage of Wind, Makar, in this adorable plushie, complete with violin. (Sources also tell me that he even has a bell inside so that he has an authentic jingle sound as well!)
Stumbling upon this little wonder, I honestly think I’m in love! I’ve always had a huge soft spot for Makar in ‘The Wind Waker’; he’s friendly, sweet and loveable, exactly as he’s depicted in this fantastic squishy replica. There’s a delightful innocence to the character that is synonymous with stuffed toys — I think it’s a match made in heaven.
Whilst a lot of fanart makes me jealous, I’m always particularly envious of the more tactile mediums — I feel there’s something so impressive about conjuring a real-life imitation of a fictional character that you can touch outside of the game world. Looking more closely, I absolutely love the layered effect used on his body; it gives him the look of a big piece of raw ginger, pulled straight out of the ground, cleaned off and given a mask and a fiddle! He looks every bit a child of the forest.
And on that note I’m going to leave you now and head back to Hyrule — I’m one Korok down but have oh-so-many more to go!
