Earlier this month we reported about Nintendo and Netflix’s supposed new partnership. That news, of course, is the live-action Legend of Zelda television series. This wouldn’t be Nintendo’s first venture into film, as we all remember the Super Mario Super Show, the animated Zelda cartoon, the Donkey Kong cartoon, and even the live-action Mario Bros. movie.

Nintendo have made multiple statements lately saying they don’t want to be known as “just a video game company”, and I could see this as their biggest step toward making this statement true. What makes me have hope for this series to come to fruition is that Nintendo has made several attempts recently to share their IPs. Have you noticed the push in action figures / amiibos, news of Zelda yahtzee, several different board games, etc. that have been announced or have come out lately? What about the deal between Nintendo and Sony to create a full length animated Mario Bros. film? Nintendo has also been busy creating their own short features lately with Kid Icarus and Zelda, but the most prominent being the Pikmin shorts.

A few years ago, news like this would be pushed aside as a simple rumor. However, with everything that has happened recently and next year being the franchise’s 30th anniversary, I can see why so many people are getting excited for this. In fact, the guys at Kinda Funny happened to get so excited they made a Kinda Funny reacts video giving their thoughts on the subject.

If you’re unfamiliar with who Kinda Funny is, you may be surprised by some of the faces you see. Kinda Funny is comprised of Greg Miller, Colin Moriarty, Nick Scarpino, and Tim Gettys. They are all former employees of IGN, who have quit their very promising jobs to pursue a career in doing what they love. Thanks to fans like yourself, they make a living by talking about video games. To hear their first reaction to the supposed partnership between Nintendo and Netflix, be sure to check the video below.

If you would like to hear a longer more in-depth discussion on the subject, watch this video (below). Be warned, sensitive language is used.
