In Nintendo’s most recent financial results briefing, Satoru Iwata revealed that Link is the most popular amiibo in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan. The only exclusion was Australia, where Mario was the most popular amiibo sold.

Seeing as Link is compatible with every amiibo-compatible game, including Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8, and Super Smash Bros., it’s no surprise that he’s at the top of the list in almost every region.

Australia needs to pick up the slack though — there is no excuse for number three!

agreed! they need to drop mario to 3! in us+canada and Australia!

  • Aeon Devlin

Well Link seems to be the only goddamn amiibo that they restock here in Australia so I’m surprised that it’s not the top selling amiibo.

There was literally a wall full of Link at EB Games. There was a Mario at the side but that’s not important.

  • Derinku .

Here in Mexico you can find Mario and Kirby almost anywhere so I dont think they be on the top of sells, but Link is very hard to find

  • sacking

    link sucks

  • Sammie

As much as I love Link and the other top characters, if feel as though this list isn’t very accurate. Almost all the top numbers are from the first wave, which most likely means the list is based of sales (and no numbers are shown). I think the list would change if it was based off the number of a certain amiibo produced/put on the shelf and the number of said amiibo bought

Lol, the reason that Link isn’t selling in Australia is because he’s ALWAYS sold out. He’s not available for the next two or three releases because he’s that ridiculously understocked while being incredibly popular.

  • CEObrainz

Link is the one ammibo that I don’t want because it’s build quality looks terrible. That being said I’m still waiting for Nintendo to release these amiibo cards at a reasonable price.

  • craZ

Lol, the hatred on the Link amiibo in the comments on a Zelda site.

  • I’m sure other characters would be on that list too, if there was an option for people to buy them.

Very surprised about Little Mac even being a blip on the radar in Japan but not in any of the other regions. With the popularity of Punch Out you think it’d be higher in at least the US. Though I do have a feeling this chart is scaled more based on how Nintendo did their forces scarcity over actual ranking. Seems like a bit of over saturation in the market of certain characters you know?
